The Story Behind Wynston’s
Wynston’s Ice Cream was founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Chris and Sarah Wynn, whose love for ice cream is deeply rooted in family memories.
For Chris, the story started long before Wynston’s existed. Every summer growing up, his extended family would gather for camping trips in Michigan, where a highlight of the week was visiting the local lake-town ice cream shop. Over time, ice cream became woven into the Wynn family’s most meaningful moments—dating memories, celebrations, pregnancy cravings, and family adventures exploring new cities together.
When Chris and Sarah moved to San Diego in 2015, they knew they had found the place where they wanted to build their dream. With the support of friends, neighbors, and the community, they opened a tiny 100-square-foot shop as part of a local entrepreneurial incubator, turning their passion into reality.
Today, Wynston’s continues to thrive thanks to that same community support and a belief that ice cream is about more than dessert.
